C S Forester Society AGM 2014 at Walmer Castle
This year’s AGM took place at Walmer Castle near Dover. The ‘Walmer Castle‘ was one of the ships shepherded and taken advantage of by Hornblower in ‘The Commodore‘ but our members preferred to stay on dry land.
After a meeting of serving officers and the development of an Action Plan, members met on Saturday morning 30 September.
Lawrie Brewer paid tribute to Jetse Reijenga.
John Roberts supervised the election of Officers to be led once again by Chairman Ludwig Heuse.
The webmaster will be Nicolas Grigorellis
who will be assisted by Editor Lawrie Brewer.
Sue Napier will be Treasurer.
Each member read an extract from their favourite CSF volume and appraised its value. ‘The General‘ and the centenary of the 1914 war prompted an analysis of the Origins of WW1.
In the evening we dined at the Three Compasses ion Deal where we once again re-created the ‘Castle Pie’ dinner originated by Forester in ‘Hornblower and the Atropos‘.
On the Sunday morning we enjoyed a privileged tour of Walmer Castle including the rooms and possessions of the Duke of Wellington and Queen Victoria.
